Tour Itinerary
Six-Day Umbwe Journey Kilimanjaro climbing is a brief but challenging path because of the mountain's extreme steepness. It's important to move carefully because the 6-day trekking itinerary on the Umbwe Route does not allow adequate time for altitude acclimatization due to the rapid ascent.
Day 1: Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Cave Camp
• After breakfast, drive to the Umbwe Gate (1,800 meters) and
complete registration.
• Begin the trek through dense rainforest with steep trails.
• Reach Umbwe Cave Camp (2,940 meters) for dinner and
overnight stay.
Day 2: Umbwe Cave Camp to Barranco Camp
• Start early and continue through moorland vegetation.
• Ascend steep sections of the trail with stunning views of the
surrounding landscape.
• Reach Barranco Camp (3,976 meters) for dinner and overnight
stay.
Day 3: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
• Begin the day with a challenging scramble up the Barranco
Wall.
• Traverse alpine desert terrain with panoramic views of glaciers
and ice fields.
• Arrive at Karanga Camp (3,995 meters) for dinner and
overnight stay.
Day 4: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
• Ascend through rocky terrain towards Barafu Camp (4,673
meters).
• Take time to acclimatize and rest before the final push to the
summit.
• Prepare your equipment and mentally prepare for the summit
night.
Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
• Start the ascent around midnight, climbing through scree and
snow.
• Reach Stella Point (5,739 meters) at sunrise and continue to
Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa.
• Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before
continuing to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters) for the night.
Day 6: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
• Descend through lush rainforest, enjoying the sights and
sounds of nature.
• Arrive at Mweka Gate (1,640 meters) and receive your summit certificates.
• Transfer back to Moshi for a well-deserved celebration and
rest.
