Tour Itinerary
Are you ready to embark on an experience of a lifetime? If so, your best bet would be to do the 6-day Marangu Route Kilimanjaro climbing tour! This itinerary will provide you with all the information you need to know before embarking on this thrilling journey. The 6-day Marangu route offers climbers a better chance of reaching the summit since it gives them more time to acclimate to the increasing altitude.
Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Start your journey at the Marangu Gate, which is located at an altitude of 1,860 meters above sea level. From there, you will hike for about 5 hours to reach the Mandara Hut, which is situated at an altitude of 2,700 meters. The hike will take you through lush rainforests, where you can expect to see a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
After breakfast, you will begin your hike to Horombo Hut, which is located at an altitude of 3,200 meters. The hike will take about 4 hours and will pass through a more open moorland landscape. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to see some amazing views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Day 3: Horombo Hut (3,720m) - Acclimatization Day
This day is dedicated to acclimatization and allows your body to adjust to the increasing altitude. You can explore the area around Horombo Hut or take a short hike to Zebra Rocks for further acclimatization.
Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Today’s hike will be quite challenging as you will be hiking for about 6 hours to reach the Kibo Hut, which is situated at an altitude of 4,700 meters. The hike will take you through a rocky terrain and you will have the opportunity to see some stunning views of Mawenzi Peak and the Kibo Crater.
Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
This day will be the highlight of your trip as you will hike to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak, which is the highest point in Africa at an altitude of 5,895 meters. The hike will take about 6 hours and will be quite challenging, but the views from the top will be breathtaking. After reaching the summit, you will descend back to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
Today’s hike will be relatively easy as you will be descending back down to the Marangu Gate, which will take about 5 hours. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to see some beautiful rainforest landscapes and wildlife.
