There is one book which is called The Snow Leopard. Wrote by Peter Matthiessen who describes his journey through the amazingly beautiful landscape of Dolpo. Nepal’s first English subtitle movie which is Oscar-nominated Himalaya, Caravan also shot in this region. Upper Dolpo is a region of mystical beauty. It is one of the restricted trekking regions of Nepal. For this trekking needs a special permit. This trek should be a minimum of two-person to get a permit. This trekking is a kind of adventure trek where trekkers need to carry all the needed things for whole trekking because this trekking is just the Camping trek. Which is more challenging than other trekking due to high passes trail. In this trekking people can see most amazing things are like Tibetan Buddhist culture, many more oldest monasteries, the spectacular She-Phoksundo lake which is deepest(145m) lake of Nepal, beautiful valleys, pine forest, beautiful Rhododendrons forest, amazing spectacular landscapes, some rare wildlife including the elusive snow leopard, “Crystal Mountain” which is called holy mountain so every year more than hundreds of pilgrims travelers visit the upper Dolpo and use to make a circuit of the mountain
Upper Dolpo Trek will start with a flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj around 45 minutes. Then next morning again flight from Nepalgunj to Jhupal and will start to walk then trek will end in same place Jhupal. And due to heavy snowfall winter season is avoided for this trekking so the best season for this trekking is in the summer and monsoon.
