This package includes 9 nights of ayurvedic wellness retreat in the midst of an ancient kingdom Sigiriya and in the cove of the pristine sands of Tallala. The treatments in these packages will focus on strengthening and rejuvenating the body, mind and soul. Experience the power of therapeutic and traditional holistic medicinal spa complemented with free meditation and yoga sessions which will enable you to find and maintain a sense of contentment and wellbeing. DAY 01 | Airport to Arankelle Monastery - Ayurveda Resort Maho
Ayubowan!! Welcome to Sri Lanka. You will be met by representatives of Real Lanka Holidays at the airport and from there you will be transferred to Arankelle Monastery is at a distance of 117km from Colombo and will take approx. 2.5 hours of drive.
Your first glimpse of ancient healing science will be witnessed in the depths of a 6th century cave hermitage; the Arankelle Forest Monastery. Situated up a forested hillside, Arankelle is home to the largest hot water pond in Sri Lanka and houses the ruins of an ancient monastery, once inhabited by a sect of reclusive monks who had been attracted to this site for shelter, meditation and for its very isolation and seclusion. Also seen are vestiges of grinding stones that had been used to prepare ayurvedic medicines. All these ruins now being unearthed testifies to the existence of a large ayurvedic hospital at the monastery.
Arankelle is a remarkable historical site with archaeological remains that are vividly reflective of the highly developed, remarkable architectural skills of the ancient Sinhala builders. It is a biologists’ paradise, and a treasure-house of medicinal plants, and an exciting place for bird and butterfly watchers and wildlife enthusiasts. Its invigorating natural environmental setting, its inspirational archeological remains, and above all the peace and tranquility that one feels in its midst, make Arankelle an ideal place for those who are spiritually inclined, and are in search of inner peace and inner transformation.
After this we will transfer to Ayurveda Resort Maho – Sigiriya, in the heart of the cultural triangle, in a small village called ‘Audangawa’. Claiming a rich Buddhist cultural value, these northern plains of Sri Lanka served as the crucible of early Sinhalese civilization and proudly preserves even to date, the remnants of an eventful bygone era. Ayurveda Resort Maho – Sigiriya hence allows its guests to experience Sri Lanka’s culture, history and tradition without interrupting their wellness schedule in the least.
Day 02 | Ayurveda Paradise - Maho
Wake up to the rays of sunlight and a dose of herbal drink to revitalize and soothe your spirits.
Perched in the midst of an ancient kingdom of Ceylon, Ayurveda Resosrt Sigiriya is a wellness retreat that practices the world’s oldest healing science, Ayurveda. While healing the maladies of the body with Vedic expertise, this spiritual hub is a haven that revitalizes and soothes your spirits.
Dietary requirements are an important part of ayurvedic treatment. Built around a beautiful organic garden, all meals served to our guests at Ayurveda Resort Maho – Sigiriya will be prepared after consultation with the in-house ayurvedic physician, who prescribes the meals in accordance with the predominant and secondary Dosha conditions of your body. Daily treatments are then prescribed with the aim of rebalancing these “doshas”.
While the ayurvedic science strictly insist on a vegetarian diet, each mouth-watering dish placed before you at Ayurvie is a proud outcome of organic fruits and vegetables produced in their own home garden. Carefully prepared to complement Vata, Pita and Kapha body constitutions, the primary focus of each meal is the positive enhancement of the health of the guest
End your day with an evening yoga session to alleviate stress, improve flexibility and practice mindfulness to relax and reach a state of tranquility.
Day 03 | Ayurveda Paradise - Maho
The package includes consultation with the Ayurvedic specialist to outline a plan for Ayurveda massages everyday using aromatic herbal oils. Beyond herbal soaks and hot oil treatments administered by the Ayurvedic physician, the wellness retreat also offers a range of other facilities and amenities that creates in fulfilling a holistic wellness experience.
You may indulge in a morning and evening dose of yoga lessons, a cookery demonstration with the hotel chef who is well known for his Ayurvedic cuisine and a visit to the lush organic gardens to learn about the fresh produce and medicinal herbs and pick your vegetables to prepare traditional vegetarian curries with the chef.
You will also relish in the art of pottery making with the local villagers to learn the secrets of the trade and make your own pottery souvenir, to take home!
Day 04 | Ayurveda Paradise - Maho
As each day passes, discover the ancient healing wisdom of our lands with a selection of soothing treatments and personalized packages. The experience of a detoxifying herbal bath at Ayurvie after a rejuvenating full body Ayurvedic Massage could work wonders in your overall health and relieves you of stress and worries!
Alternatively, you can visit Dambulla Cave Temple, Ritigala Buddhist Monastery, Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy, historical kingdoms of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa few of the destinations within easy reach from the retreat. Ayurvedic Resort Maho – Sigiriya allows its guests to experience Sri Lanka’s culture, history and tradition without interrupting their wellness schedule in the least.
If you haven’t gotten your fill of cultural adventure, make a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage City of Polonnaruwa; home to the Sinhalese kings and queens of old. Without a doubt, the best way to explore the ancient city is by bicycle where you will meander through stupas, ancient palaces, temples, Buddha statues and more. If you need to take a break don’t fret and make sure that you stop off at many of the coconut and drink points to cool down.
You could also embark on a slow and scenic catamaran ride along the Polonnaruwa Lake for bird watching and sometimes elephants in search of water during hot and dry months. En-route, stop at a village home for “Plain Tea” with Treacle and “Helapa”, a traditional Sri Lankan snack that can refresh you.
Day 05 | Maho - Galle - Tallala
Today after breakfast we will travel to another Ayurvedic retreat south of the island to the historical city of Galle Drive would be 5.5 hours longs to reach Sri Lanka’s pristine coastline of Weligama. One of Sri Lanka’s charms is wildly contrasting landscapes within hours of each other from the hills to the meandering rivers, plantations and then onto the idyllic southern coast until you meet the historical city of Galle – a perfect combination of blue ocean, history and culture.
Galle is a living world heritage site that you can explore by a leisurely walk in the afternoon. First built by the Portuguese and later fortified by the Dutch since the 17th century, the Galle Fort remains one of the best-preserved sea fortresses in South Asia. Surrounded on three sides by the Indian Ocean, It occupies 36 hectares of land and resembles fortifications in the coastal areas of Portugal. Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Fort is an ensemble which illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
Explore on foot, an endlessly exotic old trading port blessed with imposing Dutch-colonial buildings, ancient mosques and churches, grand mansions and museums, stylish cafes, quirky boutiques, impeccably restored hotels and cafes. For those adventure enthusiasts, we recommend you cycle through Galle Fort’s sleepy, cobblestone streets into its neighboring villages and markets to experience the quiet, peaceful lifestyle in the southern coast.
Late afternoon, retreat to your secluded wellness cove, Suryalanka Ayurvedic Resort. Snugly nestled on the cove of a pristine stretch of beach, the Eco-friendly Suryalanka Ayurveda Resort is designed to offer discerning guests an Ayurveda wellness retreat. Day 06 | Surya Lanka Ayurveda - Tallala Bay
Wake up on a secluded beach cove in Tallala, that overlooks the stunning Indian Ocean. Simply sit down, relax and bask the view in all its spectacular glory. Relish an exquisite herbal drink or fresh fruit juice from the ‘Arishta’ beverage bar to revitalize and soothe your spirits.
Suryalanka Ayurveda – Tallala offers guests the convenience of consulting a house doctor for diet recommendations based on individual body constitutions. Their menu consists of pure vegetarian and bio food, flavorfully cooked with their very own garden grown, organic vegetables. Their beverage bar serves up exquisite herbal drinks and fresh fruit juices on demand.

Day 07 | Surya Lanka Ayurveda - Tallala Bay
Ayurvie presents the luxury of a series of meticulously designed Ayurveda Spa Treatment rooms with the unparalleled convenience of a team of professionals at the guests’ beck and call to recommend the most suited, bespoke therapy to be indulged in. The Spa offers a range of therapies from body massages to oleation therapy and other herbal treatments designed to relieve the body and mind of stress and disease. Personalized treatments are then prescribed with the aim of rebalancing your doshas which have a flow-on effect on losing weight and detoxifying the body, calming the body and mind to generally improve your sense of wellbeing
In the afternoon, drive few minutes away from Ayurvie to the Bimbarama temple that lies uninterrupted by the modern pace of life, attended to by meditating, resident monks. The temple’s garden is where most of the organic food served at the hotel is grown. A quiet stroll through its orchard and grounds is sure to lift spirits.
End your day with an evening Yoga session in our spacious pavilion uniquely designed for yoga and meditation sessions. On board here, there’s nothing but stillness and calm that pave the way for harmonious inner peace. While a dedicated yoga instructor conducts session twice a day, guests are welcome to immerse themselves in the serenity of this glass enclosed space, any time of the day.
Day 08 | Surya Lanka Ayurveda - Tallala Bay
As each day passes, discover the ancient healing wisdom of our lands with a selection of soothing treatments and personalized packages that refresh and revitalize your mind, body, and soul. Forget all worries, feel yourself being cleansed and find your inner peace and solitude.
Alternatively, you could always soak up some sun on the pristine beaches of Tallala or at low tide, guests could even head offshore and wade towards the world famous, tiny Taprobane island which is a mesmerizing sight just by itself.
Ayurvie sits comfortably enwrapped just walking distance from the popular Tallala Bay, and a few minutes’ drive away from popular Southern towns such as Hikkaduwa, Mirissa and the historic city of Galle. Mirissa, which just a 15-minute drive away is deemed home of giant sea mammals including Blue whales, Bryde´s whales, Sperm whales, Fin whales, rare Killer whales, Common dolphins, Bottlenose dolphins, Spinner dolphins, Risso’s dolphins and Striped dolphins.
Day 09 | Surya Lanka Ayurveda - Tallala Bay
Spend your days relishing diverse therapies where you will forget all worries, feel yourself being cleansed and find your inner peace.
Alternatively, you could also immerse in the Sri Lankan tea culture with a visit to a low altitude tea plantation famed for ‘Virgin white teas’, so pure they are never touched by the human hand. The only tea estate closest to the ocean, the Handungoda Estate takes you through tea fields and enlightens one on the noble heritage of white tea, the art of plucking and a tour of the antiquated factory. Halfway through the tour enjoy a refreshing cup of tea with cake!
For those adventure enthusiasts, we suggest a rain forest trek and lunch in the diverse forest reserve of the Kanneliya Rainforest. This jungle book trek will take you pass a diverse range of flora, fauna, monkeys, snakes, chameleons, extensive birdlife, a beautiful waterfall and aa scrumptious lunch by an idyllic lake.
Day 10 | Tallala - Airport
Enriched with a holistic wellness experience, we bid you farewell as your chauffeur guide transfers you to the airport to meet your departure flight home, preferably in the evening. It would be approximately 2.5-hour drive
