Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi → Transfer to Maasai Mara
Main Destination: Maasai Mara
Accommodation: Mara Serena Safari Lodge
Meals Planned: Lunch and Dinner.
You will arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, where your guide will meet you. After a quick introduction, you will be transferred to Wilson Airport for a short flight to the Maasai Mara (approximately 45 minutes). Alternatively, you can drive to Maasai Mara (a 5-6 hour drive).
Upon arrival, you will be met by a guide from your lodge or camp and transferred to Mara Serena Safari Lodge. After check-in, enjoy lunch before heading out for your afternoon game drive. Your first safari experience will take you through the Mara plains, where you’ll begin tracking cheetahs and other predators. The Mara is one of the best places to spot cheetahs in the wild, and your guide will focus on locating these swift hunters.
In the evening, relax and enjoy a sundowner while watching the sunset over the plains. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Full Day Safari in Masai Mara
Main Destination: Masai Mara
Accommodation: Mara Serena Safari Lodge
Meals Planned: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Optional Activity: Hot Air Balloon Ride
Today is dedicated to a full day of safari in the Maasai Mara, with a special emphasis on cheetah tracking. After an early breakfast, you will head out on your morning game drive. The goal will be to track cheetahs, watch them in action, and observe their hunting techniques. The vast open spaces of the Mara make it easier to spot these fast and agile predators.
In addition to cheetahs, you will have opportunities to see lions, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and a wide variety of antelopes. Your guide will also help you spot some of the Mara’s bird species, which are plentiful and varied.
In the afternoon, you will return to your lodge for lunch, followed by a cultural visit to a nearby Maasai village. This visit will allow you to learn about the Maasai people’s traditions, lifestyle, and connection to the land and wildlife.
Afterward, you'll set out for another afternoon game drive, giving you a second chance to observe cheetahs and other wildlife.
Day 3: Final Game Drive → Return to Nairobi
Main Destination: Nairobi City
Accommodation: None/On request
Meals Planned: Breakfast and Lunch.
On your final day, you will have a morning game drive to explore more of the Maasai Mara and hopefully catch a final glimpse of the cheetahs or any animals you may have missed. After your game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast and check out.
You will then be transferred to the airstrip for your return flight to Nairobi (or drive back, if preferred). Upon arrival at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, you will be met and transferred to your hotel or to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
